Join Indo/Afro/Arabo/Flamenco group Surabhi at the Acorn Theatre in Three Oaks, MI as they celebrate the release of their new album.
Surabhi features artists who have performed with Las Guitarras de España, Ensemble of Ragas, as well as Lookingglass and the Goodman Theater productions. Surabhi most recently performed a successful concert in Michigan City for the relief of Syrian refugees. The ensemble returns to the Acorn Theater for a 3rd year in a row to release a new CD. The ensemble will feature an outstanding line-up from Chicago’s musical theater scene, including Ronnie Malley, Arabic oud ("The White Snake"), Sara Ranganathan, veena ("The Jungle Book"), Bob Garrett, percussion (Sting’s "The Last Ship") and Carlo Basile, Spanish guitar ("Cascabel with chef Rick Bayless"). South Indian Tabla master, Dhanajay Kunte and Senegalese percussionist, Mamadou Tama will add stunning percussion elements to the performance with flamenco dancer, Marisela Tapia and South Indian dancer, Kinnari Vora adding movement to the mix!
General Information
The Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Michigan, is located approximately 70 miles from downtown Chicago and 60 miles from Kalamazoo. It’s an intimate and eclectic non-profit performance space featuring rock, folk, indie, jazz, opera, open mics, drama, and comedy. Housed in a turn of the century former corset stay factory, this beautiful building is now a venue to many performers of incomparable talent who delight in the proximity to the audience and outstanding acoustics. The Acorn produces approximately 80 shows a year in its 250-seat house. The full bar offers local brews, wine, and mixed drinks.
