Surabhi Ensemble returns to Evanston for the first Starlight Concert of the summer with a Global Music and Dance Program featuring original and traditional Indo/Flamenco and Arabic grooves and melodies. Check out @ParkRecEvanston on Instagram or the link below for more information and updates!
The Surabhi Ensemble is a global music and dance collective of artists who represent different cultures. Based in Chicago, the ensemble began by fusing Indian classical music with Spanish flamenco music. In recent years, it has grown to include the music and dance of the Middle East, North Africa, and Spanish flamenco, adding to the journey of the many cultures represented within the Surabhi Ensemble. The mission of the Surabhi Ensemble is to demonstrate the connections between cultures and to teach a positive message of togetherness in creating, performing, and demonstrating new works of music and dance. Members of the group work in many settings such as schools, hospitals, theaters, concert halls, festivals, refugee organizations, neighborhood parks, and cultural centers to bring this positive message of cultural unity and outreach.
